Ascension

Druidess and heroine, martyr and saviour,
some hundred years have passed since Erana
gave her life in defence of the Kingdom,
which now celebrates her victory
at the Feast of Erana.

There gathered on that holy day
in the town of Berium-in-the-Swamp,
nobles and their attendants
to contest the title of that small fiefdom
where rests the fate of all the Kingdom of Mordavia.

The sixth Mordavia Live Action Role Playing weekend event was played on the 10th-12th of December 2004.

News from the Event

As the festivities commenced on the Friday night, the town of Valea Sarii finally fell to the Swamp. A lone survivor straggled into Berium, telling of the wave of mire that had overcome his beautiful town. He was later followed by the Baroness and her retinue, who declared their intention to compete for the title of Berium. Travelling in dark dreams that night, some of the townsfolk witnessed priests of the cult of the Dark One receiving instructions from their master. The following day the tournament for the fiefdom was held, and the bravery and wits of the contestants was trialled. There were attacks by undead who some identified as belonging to the legendary Roman legion, even though it must be at least a thousand years since they lived in Mordavia. That night after a hearty feast and much spirited entertainment the Prince himself arrived to judge the competitors for the fiefdom, but his visit was interrupted by the attack of a golem, bursting down a wall of Berium Keep to invade. It's intent was unknown.

The procession of the Feast of Erana was held, and the Order of Erana carried her staff in the ceremony, then took it back to Eranov for safekeeping. Their was little objection from the townsfolk, even though this left Berium vulnerable to undead attacks. Later an even larger contingent of townsfolk walked in dreams, and contended with priests and followers of the Dark One. Several of them were dragged into the corrupting presence of the Dark One, and began to mutate. The townsfolk beheld Erana in that place where the presence of the Dark One was. They decided that her spirit was fighting against him, and had been since her death a hundred years before. They decided to leave her be. In the morning a complicated political entanglement between demons, fairies and elves over several patches of blue flowers in the forest resulted in much bloodshed and many of the townsfolk found themselves at odds with each other. Finally, the prior Baronness of Valea Sarii was declared Baroness of Berium, but there was a popular outcry when she was accused of being in service to Katrina the Vampire Queen. The discovery of the Crux Palatinus that morning in Valea Sarii, an artifact believed to be under the control of Katrina, lends credibility to this accusation. The Baroness fled, and Baron Underwood was declared lord of Berium.
