Darkness and bloodshed is spreading across Avyrnas even as the island recovers from the cold of the long winter to more temperate weather. The warbands of the Avyrnians, natives and outsiders that had hunkered down now maneouvre to take advantage of the better weather and strike against their foes. Some alliances still hold, but many are now forging new relationships and breaking old ones as the truth behind many long-standing beliefs is questioned.

Many have begun to pledge their allegiance to the Light or the Dark, the opposing forces of Liberty and Order respectively. The latter are still considered by many as evil and bent on the destruction of civilisation, but with the words of the Triumverate and the Legatus Ashurnac pledging peace through unity and order, many now seek another way and turn to the Dark for salvation. With Ankha the Phoenix slain in the ambush at Tenebrae several months ago, the forces of the Light have lost a protector and a champion, but many now rally around Tess Alder, the empress-in-waiting of the Valerians and the faithful of the Silver Court. Under her banner they now look to each other for strength and seek out further weapons and artefacts of the Light before the tide of Darkness overcomes them.

Meanwhile, the dead have not been resting well as of late, and packs of wild ghouls and other undead roam the land, hungering for flesh. Other more powerful spirits have also arisen, the twelve vengeful furies of the Cataclysm that after thousands of years once again prey upon the Avyrnians and the outsiders alike, wraiths of Ancient warriors and sages that were linked to the island in some yet enigmatic way, and several necromancers and liches with arch-designs of maleficent nature.

This gathering of the factions at Tenebrae is prompted by Thane Lothar Rathmorn, Garm, and the other leaders of the Avyrnians. The Conjunction of the planets is almost upon them, and they would welcome more soldiers to guard the town and keep order, more arcanists to deal with the abberant events that are likely to occur, and more skilled professionals to convert what resources they do have into weapons and tools for the escalating conflict.
